Brant Bjork once played drums in the mighty Kyuss years ago (and wrote most of the songs). While still in Kyuss, he produced Fu Manchu’s first album, and shortly thereafter he took up skin duties with the band. He is one of the most energetic and groove-driven drummers you will ever see live. His drumming is as mystical as his afro (that he recently cut off… but is growing back nicely). On his new release, “Brant Bjork & The Operators”, Bjork has retained that feel of the desert, but rarely hides the fact that he’s given to leisure travel as the mood suits him. He is not afraid to take chances, and, in this case, they pay off! Combining 70’s pop sensibility with a groove and funk all his own, Bjork has created a sound unlike any of his fellow desert-rock peers. He proudly wears his influences on his sleeve and puts his own signature sound into it to create a truly unique experience.
