“You can not imagine how saddened I was that I had to miss at the legendary Roadburn festival, but at a festival with a overload of fantastic bands, choices have to be made. Considering that I had to review a different, also amazing band on behalf of Lords Of Metal, I could not do anything but miss this band. When “Horseback Battle Hammer” was released, back in 2010, the first track I ever heard was “Krull”. I could not do anything but me overwhelmed and shit myself. What a dense, thick, disgusting sound does this band have. Unknown to man. Thanks to boss Horst and Burning World Records, I did not get a promo but a sealed digi-pack of the following album, named “”. I thank thee, gentlemen.”
“The first thing that I noticed when listening to this record, was the change of production in comparison to the predecessor album. It sounds a tad more clear and this is in profit of the tracks, considering they are a bit more compact, let us say more song-based. That does not mean that sounds less pummeling than before. These guys still enjoy cockslapping you to death with their ultra-heavy doompenis. A track like “Battle In The Swamp” starts with a pounding riff that would fit perfectly on Yob’s “The Unreal Never Lived”. “Golden Axe” is slightly more experimental. The entire record is filled with bass-ridden, awesome doom. where the focus lies more on synthesizer usage. It is about time that get’s some more international fame, cause they surely deserve it. The first step has been made, as they played this year’s Roadburn festival. “” is one of the best doom records since a long time.”
