“Not many bands or persons came out unscathed after having had big problems. Not many return to claim what was actually theirs from the beginning. Justin Oborn Of is such a survivor. With his new band and a new album he tried to overcome the loss of two-third of his band, and “We Live” was the result. Now, “We Live” was a record searching for the balance. It was an okay record but hardly worthy of the label . Today, we get “”, and man is this some record! is stronger than ever and beats records like “Supercoven” or “Dopethrone” to a mere pulp. These became doom classics, but the sound of this record will blast those away. The sound being the seventies sound engineered in the cult studio Toerag Studios in London where everything after the seventies is just banned!
And strangely enough you can hear the strangest squeaks and peeps in these songs’ Ghosts perhaps? The riffs are haunting, ranging from heavy doom to speeding up tempo songs. Lyrically you can hear stories inspired by the Weird Tales of the nineteen twenties or the oeuvre of H.P. Lovecraft. Just listen to the great “Dunwich”. Witchcraft and seventies cult movies have a prominent place as well on this CD with songs like “Satanic Rituals Of Drugula” (great title, drugs induced perhaps?) or “Torquemada 71″. With this CD you suddenly think you are in a messe noir, a circle of a witches sabbath and the ritual has just started! This is a great but frightening CD.
Rise Above will release a vinyl version of this record, limited and with posters and such. If you do not already possess this, hurry up and experience this record analogue.”
