Some short lines on these recordings:
Stahlmacht
In a way, “Stahlmacht” has always been unfinished business. It consistently kept on evolving and small changes, hooks and improvements were gradually injected again and again over time. Finally, we have this ultimate version for you, “on click” and incorporating all the fixes that make the song live up to our most recent stuff AND with MiQe handling the vocals.
Corridor
It’s no secret that Meshuggah has always been an important example & influence for the band. Rehearsing this one was a nifty challenge for everyone, but the result and the reactions live were right away amazing… Whilst recording, new harmonies & ideas popped up almost instantly, so we kind of ended up with our “own version” of this song. Check our YouTube channel for live footage for this one!
Asynchronous
2007. We had already vigorously begun writing “Made Out Of Negative Matter”, when we got the offer to be part of the Deathmetal. be 5 sampler. It was the perfect way for us to break the silence, and to give the fans a sneak preview of the direction the new material was going to be in. Brutal, Abstract, Melodic, . The more effective listener will notice that the spoken sample part in the bridge is still used live, but reworked as an intro for “Mind Over Matter”, as you can hear on the Graspop Metal Meeting live recording.
Mind & Systematic
Graspop 2009. The sound is raw, unmixed and imperfect, but still we wanted to have these tracks released as a memory of one of the most intense and beautiful moments in our career. “Mind Over Matter” is presented here the way we played it at the time, BEFORE the release of MOONM. Nowadays, the song sounds slightly different.
Wtf… Vinyl?
We were playing for a while with the idea to release a ltd vinyl as an experiment. We are huge vinyl lovers ourselves, and it seemed a nice way to present these tracks. Originally the plan was to only release the 2010 tracks, but we figured it was fun to bring some stuff together for you, the fans.
