They bring a heightened jazz sensibility to their arrangements. I don’t think of this as a “song” album, but there are some very strong hooks and choruses to complement the instrument virtuosity. The arrangements are very egoless. As I said, I was prepared to like this album, but I didn’t know I would find myself drawn into it. Themes and passages keep following me around, coloring my life. This album represents, for me, a really stunning fusion of creativity and technique, passion and craft.
