“Lets not beat around the bush: not every career move is necessarily a step forward. is the living proof of this with their latest, fifth album that is another exercise of heavy psychedelic blues rock with hardly any progress compared to its predecessor “Bury Your Roots” or it should be that this new record has become even more middle of the road boogie. “” is perfect material for specialized rock radio stations. Even the once customary break shaped as a ballad returns on this album. It remains a question however if we should be happy with tracks like “Broken Man” and “Dragons”, sounding like a washed out Eric Clapton with a hangover.”
” has done a lot of shows opening for the much better known American band Clutch and it is tempting to look for points of similarity. These can be found, but unfortunately not that many and that is a pity, because a little bit more Clutch in would have made quite a difference. It is like salt and pepper that can season an otherwise bland dish. And that is just the problem with “”: it is bland. Okay, there is a pinch of Queens Of The Stone Age / Kyuss, another much used ingredient to spice up modern rock, but it is the same problem: a little bit more would have been nice.”
“This being said, the conclusion is still intact that these three beardy and hairy Swedes created a nice, albeit rather conventional record that is an easy listen, but just too riskless and therefore fails to make any real impact.”
