“Despite of the fact that nowadays has a bunch of top musicians in its line-up (what to think of Michael Amott (Arch Enemy among others), JB (of Grand Magus fame), Per Wiberg (Opeth) and Sharlee D’Angelo (Arch Enemy)), I never really followed the career of this band and besides the 1999 release “Ad Astra” I am really not familiar with the already released material of this outfit. The reason for this can be found in the fact that the music press always categorized as stoner rock, a music style which I could and can not really appreciate. However I am quite happy that editor-in-chief Horst has decided to send me this record for a review, because the thirteen songs on offer here sound very good to me and made me decide to start purchasing all the other releases of . But for now, let keep it at “”, shall we? After a nice and heavy intro entitled “Inner Strength”, first track “Throwing Your Life Away” bursts loose and it is a great rock song with a terrific groove. Vocalist JB fits perfectly with this type of music, which clearly has its roots in the seventies (but with a sound quality of today of course) and guitar player Michael Amott demonstrates his capabilities through great riffs and solos. The quality of this unit is demonstrated most clearly in tracks like “Salt In Your Wounds”, the dark “Through The Halls” and “Dying Every Day”, but all other tracks are also great. In my opinion this is an essential purchase and for the real fan there’s also a special edition available with an extra 8-track live bonus disc “Live In Japan”.”
