“Some records should not have been made, simply because they are completely superfluous. Most of these records disappear into the sales bins and later move on to become plastic bags, but in some cases you are happy to have these redundant records. The eponymous debut by is such a record.”
“The stonerrock produced by this Dutch trio is absolutely unoriginal and sounds like amalgam of Kyuss and Colour Haze. Is this a bad thing? No, not at all. ‘s debut rocks and roars like a rock album should rock and roar. With six tracks in almost forty minutes it is not the longest album ever, but it reaches astronomic heights and the long tracks sound as finished and ripe that it is almost unbelievable this is made by a band that has won a talent competition less than a year ago. The first prize was a slot as opening act at the famous Pinkpop festival. After that, the album was quickly finished and released. Now, a year later, the fairy tale has a new chapter when the album is rereleased on the well-known Elektrohasch label (run by Colour Haze). The five tracks from the first edition have been reshuffled and are accompanied by a sixth song, called “Intermezzo”, making this a completely new version of the album.”
“Suppose that at one day a machine will be invented that allows you to create music based on the input of existing music. Imagine that you take all the stoner rock you can find, Kyuss, Fu Manchu, Sleep and whatever is available, put it into this machine and push the button. What will be the result: the album! an ! It is a clever piece of work but in the end, something is missing in the final result, something typically . But is this something we should pay much attention to? No, just listen to the ruthless speaker shattering “Common Believer” or the relatively subdued “If” and get convinced: there is absolutely no need at all for a Kyuss reunion. Just let write a few more songs and no-one will ever want to see John Garcia and his friends on stage again. Well done!”
